The Western North Carolina Air Museum is a great stop for flying enthusiasts. If you remember the roar of a big radial engine thundering into life, you can hear it again.  See a Stearman N2S-4, known as the Yellow Peril, or a North American SNJ-5 Texan, that turned young fliers into combat pilots.

The Holmes Educational State Forest offers rugged terrain, numerous rock outcroppings, and scenic vistas, plus a rich mixture of mountain hardwoods, rhododendron, flame azaleas, and other wildflowers. Well-marked trails are accented by Laurel in bloom, a fire control exhibit and picnic shelters.

When Winter arrives, give the kids a snow tubing adventure at Moonshine Mountain. There’s no snow boarding or skiing here, just 300’ of pure fun.

Prefer a round of golf?  Check out Tom Fazio’s home course at Champion Hills.  Other choices include: Cummings Cove. Etowah Valley, and Kenmure.
