Transylvania County, North Carolina Vacations (NC)

Home of the Cradle of Forestry

Who would not be enchanted with a county that is home to over 260 waterfalls? The ideal location of Transylvania County makes it the "gateway to outdoor recreation" in the southeast.

Three parklands cover more than 50% of the county: Pisgah National Forest, DuPont State Forest, and Gorges State Park. Elevations range from 1,265 to 6,045 feet, and a portion of Pisgah National Forest is considered a rain forest, with rainfall averaging 80+ inches per year.

The county boasts the best water quality in North Carolina. Transylvania County is also home to "Cradle of Forestry", the first forestry school in America, founded in the early 1900's.

The town of Brevard is a thriving music and arts community, with fantastic shopping and dining in a charming Appalachian town.
